Cold Syrup

2 lemons, sliced

10-12 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks, broken or cinnamon chips

ginger, about an inch long, peeled and sliced.

Place the lemons, cloves, cinnamon and ginger in a jar.  Cover with local, raw homey and makes sure it covers all the other ingredients.  I covered it with fresh, raw local honey & worked it down into the jar with a chopstick. Continue to add honey as it settles.  Set in a cool, dark place for 3 days, or longer, stir occasionally.

Strain, store in refrigerator and use, as needed.

You can dehydrate the solids and use them in teas or crush them in a blender and add that way (dehydrate before trying to put in the blender.)

Echinacea and Lemon and Ginger Soothing Drops

Echinacea and Lemon and Ginger Cough Drops

•    1 cup Herbal Tea, echinacea and lemon
•    1 cup Sugar
•    powdered sugar
•    peeled and chopped ginger about 1/4 cup

Instructions
1.    Steep tea bags and ginger for about 10 minutes and strain.
2.    Combine 1 cup of herbal tea with 1 cup of sugar. Make sure you do this on a tall pot so that there is plenty of room for the mixture to boil. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pot.
3.    Heat on high heat stirring until the sugar dissolved and then don't touch it.
4.    In the meantime, place a layer of powdered sugar in a shallow pan and make divots to pour the mixture into. I use the handle of a large spatula but anything will do.
5.    Once the mixture reaches 300 remove the pot from the heat, and let it settle so that the foam from boiling subsided.
6.    Then using a small plastic ladle to pour the mixture into the powered sugar.
7.    Allow to cool until firm.
8.    Toss in the powdered sugar to coat and place in an air tight jar.

1 tsp. Of Vitamin E Oil
1/4 cup Emu Oil
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract,  get the recipe to make your own here.  (optional)
20 drops Lavender Essential Oil. (you can use your choice of essential oils)

  1. Heat the Shea Butter slowly in a medium sized sauce pan until the Shea is in liquid form.
  2. Add in the olive oil and emu oil.
  3. Let the mixture cool for about 30 minutes, just before it fully sets back up.
  4. Add in the Vitamin E, Vanilla Extract and Essential Oil.
  5. Use a stick blender to whip the mixture until its very light in texture. It will give off a “mousse” like consistency. Make sure you have blended your essential oil vitamin E oil and vanilla in well.
